Welcome to the NEURONproject

What is NEURONproject
NEURONproject (Neurosurgical Education with Universal Reach ONline) is a non-profit venture that provides a versatile online education hub focused on teaching surgical residents in low and middle income countries (LMIC).

Our Goals
The goal is to provide access to a rigorous neurosurgical education available anywhere in the world. It is not meant to replace or eliminate existing programs. Instead, NEURONproject’s aim is to supplement and improve neurosurgical learning as a sustainable form of global contribution.

Our Objectives
The NEURONproject is a Moodle-based teaching program which allows us to share neurosurgical knowledge and techniques with ease. Our hope is that the NEURONproject will be the stepping stone that connects neurosurgeons around the world.

Facts & Figures

Worldwide, approximately 22.6 million patients suffer from conditions that require neurosurgical expertise each year [1]. The cost in lost lives, poor quality of life and impact on families, caused by the perpetuating prevalence of neurosurgical conditions generate an enormous economic and surgical burden [2,3]. The disproportionate limitations of surgical services in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC’) is often combined with similar limitations in the surgical training programs [4,5]. These burdens can be overcome through capacity building and strengthening of existing neurosurgical traning program. Importantly, international collaborative educational projects can provide valuable solutions that can further enhances neurosurgical care.
